Night 3 - Day 4

No whining last night until early this morning but 2 poos and some wee to clean up.  I'm amazed how much he poos as he had done two in the garden last night.

We've also had a couple of wees in the house this morning but one of those was on the mat by the front door so I am hoping that is a step in the right direction.

Today's training is about being left for a while.

About an hour ago I shut him in the kitchen whilst he was still awake.  He went berserk and cried a lot.  I went back in after 10 mins and  to make a cup tea - ignoring him.  Once the tea was made I pretended to notice him and spoke to him.

I then said "Bedtime Boris" and left the room again.  Silence.  When I went back in 10 mins later he was asleep in his bed!

Vet Visit

Well - he was as good as gold.

I had a few whines when I put him in the carrier but he soon settled down and, all the time he was at the vets he was perfect.

Everyone went gooey over him and the receptionist gave him some treats.  He was interested in the other dogs but not afraid.

He didn't cry once whilst in the surgery and only sneezed when the vet shot the Kennel Cough vaccine up his nose.

He goes back in two weeks and will get his microchip then.  He has also been signed up for the next Puppy Party to meet some new playmates.

He was very tired when we got back but did a poo in the garden.  He woke up after a couple of hours and had a mad half hour and ate half a days worth of food and is now asleep again.  I'll take him out in a couple of hours before I go to bed and see how he is tonight.

First Post!

We bought Boris home at 20:00 on Sunday 24th March.  Boris is an 8 week old Labradoodle, his mother was a Lab and his dad a Labradoodle.

He was as good as gold in the car on the way back and just slept on me as Hamish drove.  When we got him home he was a little nervous and just slept in the hall by the stairs.

Roxana came up to see him about 21:30 and he suddenly woke up and bounded around the place like a mad thing, weeing and pooing as he went.

Maybe a mistake but for night 1 we let him sleep in the corner of our room.  He went to sleep OK but woke about three hours later and pooed and weed copiously.  I took him downstairs while Hamish cleared up and we both (Boris and I that is) fell asleep on the sofa.

Day 2

I went to the local pet store and purchased toys, bedding, a bed, food and collar and lead.  Boris took to his collar and lead very quickly and the remainder of the day did all his poos outside and most of his wees however he still had a couple of wee related accidents.

He also took to his bed quite quickly and I left him in the kitchen for extended periods with the door closed to get him ready for the night.  Hamish had to work away for 2 nights so it was down to me!

Night 2

Boris slept for about 2 hours and then started to cry and yelp.  As advised I tried to ignore him however an almighty crash had me running downstairs (he had pulled a mop and bucket over).  There was a poo on the floor and a lot of wee.  I took Boris outside (he weed again) and then cleaned up.

I put him back to bed and went to bed myself.  He cried for about 10 mins then went silent.  I almost came down to see if he was OK but resisted.  He was silent for the rest of the night however when I went down in the morning he was sitting in his bed and there was a lake of wee on the floor.

After I had cleaned up and taken him into the garden we both fell asleep on the sofa for a couple of hours.

Day 3

After we woke up and he went for a poo in the garden he has slept for most of the day apart from a playtime session at lunchtime.  I took him out again immediately afterwards but he did not go.  After 10 mins we were both freezing so we came in and he went to sleep again and is still sleeping as I write this.

We are off to the vets in an hour for his first checkup and jabs.  I'll report back in the next post.
